Understory is born from a love of the land and the stories it carries.
This project is tended by Ashley Haywood — a mother, grower, community educator, and visual storyteller originally from central Arizona and rooted in Northern New Mexico for the last sixteen years.
Her work spans community engagement and youth mentorship, including the development and facilitation of storytelling, art, and agriculture programs focused on skill-building, place-based learning, and creative expression. She also brings years of farming, seed saving, and ongoing self-study of native and regionally adapted plants within Southwest ecosystems.
